Before we dive in to this Bible Study, there are a few things to note:
First, the foundation of what we learn in this Bible Study is the Bible itself (See The Basics for some more information about what that means and Bible verses on specific points). The Bible is God’s word to us, and everything in it is truth. The Bible is what will back up everything we talk about, so you can rest assured it is all real. A lot of things take faith to believe, and that is why it’s called faith! Faith is a choice. When we choose to believe in God, we choose to believe that He is who He says He is, and therefore we choose to believe that what He says is true – always and forever.
The devotions may start out with things that you already know, or it may be completely new to you. As we go along it will get deeper, so don’t tune out. It’s always good to refresh our memories on the “basics”, or of course to learn them for the first time!
It’s important to me that y’all know that the only way that I am able to write and talk about this kind of stuff is because I have been through it. I have also asked some of my close friends to join discussions from time to time or give some real-life examples of their own so you can hear other people’s stories, too! We all have very different “stories” and journeys that have led us to where we are today, and that’s awesome because it’s always great to see things from more than one perspective. Everything we talk about will be real – based off of real life experience; things God has proven to me and others. I am not going to ask y’all to believe anything that I don’t know is completely, without a doubt, the truth. I also promise to answer every question any of you ask with complete honesty and transparency, no matter what it is.
You do not have to have a “great” relationship with God to do this Bible study. We are going to walk through it together, and you will get to know Him better through the process. God can handle our doubts, He can handle our questions, He can handle our hearts no matter where they are. I promise.
That being said, feel FREE to ask me anything. If you have questions about a certain topic that we discuss, or a question about something you forgot to mention in the survey, or something that didn’t come up until now, please ask. You can text me directly, send it through the group, or through an anonymous question link (the link is in this blog and I will send it out periodically through our group chat).
Finally, something I really want each of you to know is that God wants a relationship with you. He wants a relationship with each of you personally. He created you, and He loves you. He is not hard to reach, He will meet you where you are.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” Jeremiah 29:13
That is our goal here. I want each of us to grow closer to God and find out what a life with Him means, looks like, and how to have one. It’s the best thing you can have and it’s so worth it, I promise.
I think a good theme verse for this is (my favorite):
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she can laugh at the future” Psalm 31:25
That is the other thing I want for each of us – I want us to be able to face each day and situation with confidence that God has us, and no matter what happens, we will be OK because He is on our team.
Let’s do this 🙂
